What the proprietor says

At Meat City we sell naturally reared meats, which means the animals come from an open and free environment; they are fed on a proper herbivorous diet excluding any recycled animal waste, and they are not given any hormone injections for growth stimulation.

We prefer not to use the word 'organic' as this stipulates certain methods and practices that we are not in agreement with, such as not "dipping" the sheep (which prevents blow fly larva), and not giving cattle the necessary veterinary injections.

There are differing qualities in all methods of animal rearing, and needless to say we buy only from the best producers around the country to ensure that we get the highest quality possible. With a concern for animal welfare and a quest for enjoyable food, we believe we have obtained the right balance.

Customer Reviews

Meat City? Glad I found it.

Meat City is a genuinely good find if you're looking for quality meat - that's meat that doesn't boil if you want to fry it - no added water like the supermarkets pack in here; which tastes great, which you know has come from animals that have been treated with respect. Nigel himself is absolutely committed to providing the best - I know - I have known him for 5 years since first wandering into his shop and never looking back.
