The Miracle of Pomegranate Juice

Pomegranate juice is regarded as a miracle health drink and becoming the most popular fruit juice sold in supermarkets today. Like red wine and green tea, whose unique health benefits have been widely reported, evidence is emerging that a moderate intake of pomegranate juice may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

So what's its secret? It is loaded with powerful antioxidants and vitamins. The levels of antioxidants found in the pomegranate fruit are higher than most fruit juices, red wine or green tea. Antioxidants are known to protect the body from free radical damage.

But before you go out and over stock your fridge with cartons of pomegranate juice, it's important that you understand that more is not always better. Despite its delicious taste and all its health benefits, a moderate consumption is still encouraged by nutritionists. Further studies need to be done to determine the long-term effect of large consumptions. Most juices are high in calories and fructose, and a high intake of fructose is one of the major causes of obesity and diabetes today.
